Our store in Wakefield Westgate was recently visited by Alex Rose, who was looking for a new scooter. Alex, who is from Portobello in Wakefield, is just eighteen years old and has sadly been diagnosed with stomach cancer, for which he is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
He told store manager Wendy Brook that he had worked as a railway engineer before his illness and loved playing football and rugby, but unfortunately, he is no longer able to get out and about like he used to and decided to call into Eden Mobility to look for a mobility scooter.
I'm over the moon, this scooter is going to make such a difference to my life.
Initially, Alex was looking to purchase a scooter using finance but found that he would not be able to afford the repayments, as he was only eligible for 1 year due to the nature of his illness. Wendy was quick to act after finding this out and contacted the owners of Eden Mobility, Karl Howe and David Hughes, who told Wendy that Alex could have one of Eden's quality reconditioned scooters free of charge.
Pictured is Alex with his family collecting the scooter from the store, and the Wakefield staff Wendy and Janet handing over the scooter. Alex told Wendy that he is "Over the moon" and the scooter is going to make so much difference to his life. He was so happy with his new scooter that he even offered to help out at the Wakefield stores coffee morning every Wednesday!
We hope that Alex's new scooter really does make a huge difference to his life and helps him to get back out and about like he used to, and everyone at Eden Mobility wishes Alex and his family all the best for the future.
